Flood relief

A Note From Pastor Mike

The past few days have been unpredictable and unprecedented. Floods and rain have severely impacted many in our neighborhoods... even some in our church family.

In the middle of this chaos, there is an opportunity for you to Live the Story and help others. I contacted my friend and fellow pastor, Steve Bezner, of Houston Northwest Church. His church is next door to some of the worst-flooded neighborhoods in the area. Their congregation, along with Champion Forest Baptist Church, have allowed us to join them to help the victims of this devastating flood. I'm grateful that we can partner with sister churches in the community and that the body of Christ can come together as ONE CHURCH for ministry!

Also, If you need help, or personally know someone who does, please contact us by clicking here.

God bless you as you pray for and minister grace to others in need!

Here's how you may participate

1. Pray. Pray fervently for our friends and neighbors... and pray for God to be glorified by the witness of the church and for people to turn to Him through this crisis.

2. Give. We will collect special offerings this Sunday, April 24 and the money will be given to help flood victims in our community. Make your checks payable to The Brook Church and mark on an envelope or in the memo section of the check "Flood Relief". You may also give online-- select "other" then type the memo "Flood Relief".

3. Donate Clean Up and Relief Items. Please bring with you on Sunday items that are most needed for clean up. They include bleach, empty spray bottles, mops, trash bags, face masks, sponges, goggles, rubber gloves and box fans. We will collect these items and disperse them to flood victims.

4. Help With Clean Up Efforts:

Want to lead clean up teams? There is a de-mudding training taking place at Champion Forest Baptist Church tomorrow night (Friday, April 22) from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. If you want to lead a "Mud-Out" team on Saturday or help in the days ahead with the Texas Disaster Relief Team (SBC), you must go to the training at the Family Life Worship Center.

Just want to help? On Saturday morning, April 23 at 8:30am at Champion Forest BC, teams will be deployed to go into the community to help clean up homes affected by the flood. Anyone, young or old, can go out and help (there is a short training that morning for all).

Ongoing Disaster Relief. The Texas Disaster Relief Team (SBC) will be staging at Houston Northwest Church's campus. We can help support them by feeding them (serving those who serve) and in the weeks ahead they will take volunteers with them to do important work throughout the community. More info on this will be shared later.
