THE BROOK ON MISSION
On Sundays, April 30 – May 28, Pastor Mike Ayers will teach a message series through Mathew 28:18-20, a text that has become known as the “Great Commission.” Pastor Mike will unpack this passage verse-by-verse helping us all to become On Mission with God.
April 30: Doubters Welcome
May 7: Just Go
May 14: The Main Thing
May 21: Simply Obey
May 28: His Presence With Us
An excerpt from Pastor Mike’s May 7, 2017 message Just Go (The Brook On Mission, Part 2).
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus left a clear mission for all of His disciples. It was to “go and make disciples of all nations” (vs. 19). If we are to fulfill this calling as individual believers and as a church, we must come to understand what this mission means. Beginning Sunday, April 30 we launch The Brook On Mission! From this day through the month of May we will teach, worship and highlight experiences that help us to fully embrace God’s heart for others and His deep desire for us to reach our potential in Christ. This is a new day for our church — not a church program or temporary emphasis. We believe it is what God is calling us to become at The Brook.
ON MISSION EXPERIENCES
During worship throughout this 5-weeks, we will call our people to put God’s Word into action in some very specific ways. Each week will feature an On Mission Attitude to put into practice that week. Also, Saturday, May 20 from 9am – Noon is “Go Saturday”. We want our church to join us at Houston Welcomes Refugees to hear about this important ministry and assist them that morning in the work to be done. What does it look like to be “On Mission”?
Here are our On Mission Attitudes to put into practice:
No One Left Behind
Choose to Belong
No One Alone
ON MISSION NEXT STEPS
Then, on Monday nights July 10 – August 7, The Brook will hold a 5-week class for those who want to go further to apply the On Mission lifestyle to every dimension of their lives. This class will look deeply into God’s calling for us to make disciples and give us practical help to live out this kind of faith forevermore.
