1 Peter 2:13-14

¹³Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, ¹⁴or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.

‍

1 Peter 2:12

¹²Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

‍

Are you living your life in a way that it shares Christ to the world?

‍

You cannot submit to others if you are not in submission to Christ.

‍

1 Peter 2:13-14

Romans 13:1

¹Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

1 Samuel 8:5

⁵and said to him, “Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

Acts 5:18-21

¹⁸they arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison. ¹⁹But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, ²⁰“Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.” ²¹And when they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and began to teach. 1 Peter 2:15-16

¹⁵For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. ¹⁶Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.

‍

You cannot submit to others if you do not rely on the Holy Spirit.

‍

1 Peter 2:17

¹⁷Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Psalms 33:8

⁸Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

John 21:18-19

¹⁸Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” ¹⁹(This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”

Psalms 118:4-6

⁴Let those who fear the LORD say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” ⁵Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. ⁶The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

You cannot submit to others if you do not fear the Lord.

1 Peter 2:18

¹⁸Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.

Ephesians 6:5-7

⁵Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, ⁶not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, ⁷rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,

¹⁹For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. ²⁰For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.

1 Peter 2:21-25

²¹For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. ²²He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. ²³When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. ²⁴He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. ²⁵For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

John 10:18

¹⁸No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

We submit to others so that we can share the gospel with others.

‍

1 Peter 3:1-6

¹Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, ²when they see your respectful and pure conduct. ³Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— ⁴but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. ⁵For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, ⁶as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.

1 Peter 3:7

⁷Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

‍

We cannot share the gospel unless we are living the gospel.

‍

1 Peter 3:8-12

⁸Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. ⁹Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. ¹⁰For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; ¹¹let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. ¹²For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Psalms 34:11

¹¹Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

If you love Christ…you will find unutterable joy (1:8)

Continue in faith…benefits of salvation (1:9)

Holy life with fear…avoid God’s fatherly discipline (1:17)

Partaking spiritual milk…growing up toward salvation (2:2)

Trusting God and doing right while suffering…God’s approval (2:19-20)

Submitting to Husbands…Husbands won for Christ (3:1-2)

Living considerately with wives…prayers not hindered (3:7)

Enduring reproach for Christ…Spirit of glory and God rests upon you (4:14)

Casting Cares on God…He will care for your needs (5:7)

Resist the Devil…God will restore, establish and strengthen you (5:9-10)

If you are going to share Christ with the world, you need to live like Christ to the world.
