Welcome to The Brook Church! As a first-time guest, expect a warm welcome and a focus on integrating faith into everyday life. Our services center around the Bible, and we offer various ministries and community groups for you to get involved in. We look forward to meeting you!
We see a church in Northwest Houston that — first and foremost — aspires to be a Biblically functioning community. A community of believers that responds to God fully and authentically. One which passionately loves people by building genuine relationships. One that demonstrates the relevance of Christianity by presenting Christ without compromise in contemporary, creative and caring ways. And one that believes it can and will make a difference in the lives of people in Northwest Houston.
Real People
Finding Real Hope
In the Real World
Our Mission
What we commit to do — “Make Disciples”.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus called his first disciples saying, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19.
From this call we learn that a disciple:
1
Follows Jesus
— “follow me”
2
Is being transformed by Jesus
— “I will make you”
3
Is on mission with Jesus
— “fishers of men”
Our story so far
Seeing God’s faithfulness in every step.
1995
The Brook founded
The Brook Church began on Sunday, January 22, 1995 in the living room of Pastor Mike Ayers and his wife Tammy. Along with four other couples, the dream was to establish a church of authentic faith and life-giving relationships in Christ. Based upon Acts 2:42-47, the statement “real people, finding real Hope, in the real world” captured the vision this small group felt for the church.
1997
Finding a gathering place
After a few short years of growth, the church began meeting in a nearby elementary school until leasing a retail space it could call its own in the Willowbrook area.
2008
A home for hope
The Lord continued to bless The Brook with growth in abundance until leading them to “a home for hope” on its current 10 acre campus in Tomball, Texas — a fast-growing community in northwest Houston.
2020
Steps of transition
In October 2020, Pastor Mike Ayers transitioned from The Brook staff after 25 years of ministry. The Elders began a pastor search, formed a pastor search team, conducted interviews and reviewed candidates, resulting in the nomination of Pastor Jim Botts. In May 2021, Pastor Jim Botts was confirmed as the next Lead Pastor of The Brook Church, and the church continued to live out its vision of being real people, finding real Hope, in this real world.
In March 2022, Pastor Jim Botts felt a call to step into a new season of ministry. In God’s perfect timing, the Brook Church staff and Elder teams walked into a new season praying and planning, and a new search for a lead pastor began.
2022
A Church United
In August 2022, The Brook called Robby Pollard to be its lead pastor. Robby was pastoring Village Park Church in the neighboring community of Spring. The Elder teams from both churches began to pray and seek God’s will — and what has transpired is a story that only God could write.
In September 2022, Village Park Church and The Brook Church united as one family, with Robby as lead pastor, and The Brook continues to live out its mission of making disciples and realizing its vision of real people, finding real Hope, in the real world with a renewed spirit. We invite you to come visit The Brook and become a part of all God is doing in His church.
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 107:1
When you come you’ll experience a warm, authentic family environment where it is easy to make connections with others and feel at home. You’ll enjoy upbeat, worshipful music and practical messages from the Bible that help you understand and deal with real-life issues. What you learn on Sunday, you’ll be able to use during the week. We welcome you to The Brook whether it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church, or if you’re looking for a new church home.
What kind of church is this?
The Brook Church is a Christian, inter-denominational church with people from diverse backgrounds. This means that we are inclusive of all people regardless of their religious upbringing. We teach directly from the Bible, applying the timeless principles of God’s Word to situations we face in everyday life.
What time is service?
Worship Services & Kids Ministry lasts about 75 minutes. We offer two identical worship services Sundays at 9:15 and 11 AM (available via live stream on Facebook and YouTube at 11 AM).
How do I get to the church?
Our church is located at Hwy 249 and Spring Cypress Road in NW Houston.
People just like you. Our vision is “real people, finding real Hope in the real world.” This is more than a slogan. It is who we are and what we’re becoming. If you’re looking for a place where you can seek God, grow in your faith, and connect to others — give us a try. We hope to see you soon.
Why do we do what we do the way we do it?
It’s simple: every person matters to God and the Bible is a book worth knowing and living. Life through Christ provides the peace, power and perspective that we all need. It’s the church’s job to point people to the God of love and grace.
Do my kids come with me or do you have something for them?
Although kids and students are more than welcome to attend the main worship service with you, we invite your kids (infants – grade 4) take part in our Kids Ministry. Our kids ministry has age-appropriate Bible lessons, worship, God-centered crafts and fun activities. And we invite your students (grades 5 – 12) to engage with our Student ministry.
What should I wear when I visit?
Almost everyone dresses casually in our church so you can leave the suit, ties and dresses at home. “Come as you are” is true at The Brook, but it means much more than the way you dress. It means being authentic and coming to a safe place that feels like home. It means that in the process of seeking God you can be yourself.
When I come will I have to say anything, give anything, sign anything, sing anything or be singled out in any way?
No. Comfort, safety, and space are things we insure to those who come to our church. People can engage to the level they are comfortable. We never pressure people, put them on the spot, or single them out. You’ll feel warmly welcomed in our church without being overwhelmed. You’ll also be encouraged to grow in your relationship with God.
When did The Brook Church open its doors?
In 1995, without much fanfare, truth be told. There were no drums. No media presentations. Just a handful of people meeting in the living room of our pastor.
Who started it all?
Founding pastor Mike Ayers and his wife, Tammy.
What were they thinking?
They wanted to start a church with a vision to reach out to the many non-church-going people in NW Houston and provide a place to build authentic faith in Christ. No playing church, no status symbols, no fake smiles and fashion shows. Just real people, finding real Hope, in the real world.
