What can I expect when I visit?

When you come you’ll experience a warm, authentic family environment where it is easy to make connections with others and feel at home. You’ll enjoy upbeat, worshipful music and practical messages from the Bible that help you understand and deal with real-life issues. What you learn on Sunday, you’ll be able to use during the week. We welcome you to The Brook whether it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church, or if you’re looking for a new church home.

What kind of church is this?

The Brook Church is a Christian, inter-denominational church with people from diverse backgrounds. This means that we are inclusive of all people regardless of their religious upbringing. We teach directly from the Bible, applying the timeless principles of God’s Word to situations we face in everyday life.

What time is service?

Worship Services & Kids Ministry lasts about 75 minutes. We offer two identical worship services Sundays at 9:15 and 11 AM (available via live stream on Facebook and YouTube at 11 AM).

How do I get to the church?

Our church is located at Hwy 249 and Spring Cypress Road in NW Houston.

What kind of people come to your church?

People just like you. Our vision is “real people, finding real Hope in the real world.” This is more than a slogan. It is who we are and what we’re becoming. If you’re looking for a place where you can seek God, grow in your faith, and connect to others — give us a try. We hope to see you soon.

Why do we do what we do the way we do it?

It’s simple: every person matters to God and the Bible is a book worth knowing and living. Life through Christ provides the peace, power and perspective that we all need. It’s the church’s job to point people to the God of love and grace.

Do my kids come with me or do you have something for them?

Although kids and students are more than welcome to attend the main worship service with you, we invite your kids (infants – grade 4) take part in our Kids Ministry. Our kids ministry has age-appropriate Bible lessons, worship, God-centered crafts and fun activities. And we invite your students (grades 5 – 12) to engage with our Student ministry.

What should I wear when I visit?

Almost everyone dresses casually in our church so you can leave the suit, ties and dresses at home. “Come as you are” is true at The Brook, but it means much more than the way you dress. It means being authentic and coming to a safe place that feels like home. It means that in the process of seeking God you can be yourself.

When I come will I have to say anything, give anything, sign anything, sing anything or be singled out in any way?

No. Comfort, safety, and space are things we insure to those who come to our church. People can engage to the level they are comfortable. We never pressure people, put them on the spot, or single them out. You’ll feel warmly welcomed in our church without being overwhelmed. You’ll also be encouraged to grow in your relationship with God.

When did The Brook Church open its doors?

In 1995, without much fanfare, truth be told. There were no drums. No media presentations. Just a handful of people meeting in the living room of our pastor.

Who started it all?

Founding pastor Mike Ayers and his wife, Tammy.

What were they thinking?

They wanted to start a church with a vision to reach out to the many non-church-going people in NW Houston and provide a place to build authentic faith in Christ. No playing church, no status symbols, no fake smiles and fashion shows. Just real people, finding real Hope, in the real world.
